DBL D BAR Ranch: Breeding Beefmaster Cattle and the Community
DBL D BAR Beefmaster Ranch (Dd) breeds livestock raised on our ranch and from other purebred breeders. We buy cattle with premium performance traits from regional Beefmasters Breeder United (BBU) satellites and through private treaty purchases. While we primarily use natural breeding, we also artificially inseminate from leading herd-sires and dams for high-performance production. This consistently improves the weight, measures, carcass traits and classification of Dd offspring performance and Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs). We are pleased to be one of the first members of the BBU to adopt Whole Herd for our operation.
The ranch is based in Austin County, Texas. That’s about 60 miles west of Houston, or more specifically, 14 miles south of Brenham and 14 miles west of Bellville. Our primary ranch includes purebred herd and development operations near the towns of Industry and New Ulm. We also manage a commercial herd of E-6 females in Grimes County, near Navasota.
Dd ranch owners Doyle and Dorothy Sanders and their daughter, Sunnie Post, are actively involved on many BBU committees. Doyle was elected by his peers to the BBU Board of Directors in 2009. Dd is also a registered member of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN Partner Program (GOTEPP) and a proud sponsor of the BBU International Committee.
The ranch regularly supports local agricultural youth programs and the Junior Beefmaster Breeders Association (JBBA). Our support includes Calf Scramble heifer sales and show sponsorships across Texas, where several Dd heifers have been awarded top prizes. Every year, we sponsor youth educational events by hosting field days and Beefmaster Symposiums at the ranch. Contact the DBL D Bar for information concerning livestock, semen, or embryo sales. International shipments can be arranged to suit the buyer’s needs. Ranch visits to inspect livestock are welcome at any time. Come see our cattle and enjoy our Texas hospitality.
